Building Electrical Technician

President

Working closely with the electrical engineer, you will help prepare drawings and specifications for building electrical projects (power distribution, low-voltage systems, lighting, fire alarm, etc.).

What tasks and responsibilities can you expect?

  • Model building electrical systems in Revit

  • Conduct site surveys for project development

  • Perform electrical service load calculations

  • Perform voltage drop and short-circuit calculations

  • Design fire alarm and emergency power systems

  • Size generators and design emergency power distribution systems

  • Liaise with manufacturers and select equipment

  • Coordinate the layout and location of electrical equipment with other disciplines (architecture, mechanical and structural) within the project Revit models

  • Ensure drawings meet company and client quality and compliance standards (QA/QC review)

  • Help plan work and supervise drafters to ensure deliverables are met

You will report to the Building Electrical Team Lead and work under their direction. You may choose to work from our Montréal, Brossard or Sainte-Thérèse office.

What are the prerequisites for this position?

  • 5+ years of relevant experience

  • College diploma (DEC) in building electrical technology, electrical engineering technology or industrial electricity, or equivalent experience or training

  • ASP Construction card (construction site health and safety training), an asset

What skills are sought?

  • Strong French communication skills, both spoken and written (English is an asset for understanding documentation on products from outside Canada)

  • Working knowledge of English, required to understand the many technical references in our industry

  • English use ranges from occasional to daily, depending on current projects and clients

  • Knowledge of Québec construction codes and standards

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • Proficiency in Revit
